I had heard of EMDR therapy before but didn't really understand it until I picked up this book. It gives a thorough explanation of what this type of therapy does and how to use it, while also cautioning the reader on how to use it safely. I'd recommend this book to anyone curious about this method or anyone who is looking for an effective way to work through trauma.

    After all the abuse and trauma I went through in life, I thought there was nothing that would work for me after trying NLP, talk therapy, taking meds, etc., but now this book has come into my life, and I finally have hope. I love the summaries at the end of each chapter, which helped cement what I learned. I found the desensitization and installation phases to be most helpful for me, but every part is really important so I would pay close attention to each of the steps (which are easy to follow).

    As someone who is generally skeptical in new ways to look at treating PTSD as someone who has it, this book and the therapy it describes as made a great difference in my life. I was able to go through this therapy at a retreat for veterans (Operation Red Wings Foundation) and it actually helped to reduce the symptoms relating to my PTSD. This book finally gives me a greater understanding of the therapy from a clinician (and lay person as well) level. I foresee that this book will go a long way to help people understand this therapy as well as how to implement it.
